Sizerville’s Weekend Programs
7/4/2018 10:00AM INDEPENDENCE DAY HIKE!: Come out to Sizerville State Park to celebrate Independence Day as we hike the Sizerville Nature Trail. This is a 3 mile loop trail with educational stops and a vista, looking out over what used to be the logging town of Sizerville. Difficulty is easy to moderate. Meet at the trailhead on Route 155, across from the campground. Wear footwear and clothing suitable for hiking. There are areas of stinging nettle and high grass so please wear long pants or high socks. Drinking water, bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
7/4/2018 2:00 PM RED,WHITE, BLUE SCAVENGER HUNT: Join us at the Playground across from pavilion number four as we search for objects associated with nature and this great holiday! Participants who complete their list will receive a prize! 7/6/2018 9:00 PM STARGAZING: Come on out and join Astronomer Stash Nawrocki from Crystal Spheres to learn about the night sky in the PA Wilds! From the breathtaking stars to the constellations ,walk away with a new understanding of the universe you reside in. Please arrive a little early for briefing. Please bring flashlights, lawn chairs, bug spray, and water with you. This program will take place in the field just before the campground entrance.
7/7/2018 2:00 PM NATURE CRAFT & STORY: BEARS: Join us at the Environmental Education Learning Building as we read "Where Do the Animals Live" and learn more about these fascinating furry creatures. After the story, we will make a craft that you can take home with you! This program is developed for younger children, but all ages are welcomed!
7/7/2018 4:00 PM STREAM STOMP: Are you looking for a fun filled adventure to beat the heat? Come on out to Sizerville State Park to explore East Cowley Run and observe the critters that call this stream home. Dress for playing in the stream and if you have waterproof boots wear them because there is one guarantee- you will get wet! Meet at Pavilion Campground Amphitheater.
7/7/2018 8:00 PM FILM IN THE FOREST: BEARS: Come out to the Campground Amphitheater to learn about Bears! We will discover and discuss the Bear that calls Pennsylvania home and then watch a short documentary about the Black Bear!
7/8/2018 10:00 AM NATURE CRAFT: SALAMANDERS: Campground kiddos, come out to the campground playground to learn about these awesome amphibians. Learn about our state amphibian. After our talk, we will make some salamanders for you to take home.
7/8/2018 1:00 PM POOLSIDE CHAT: What is a reptile? What is an amphibian? Do you know the difference between the two? Take a break from the pool to learn about creatures and where they live.
