Rotary News

Trooper Matt Salisbury (right) spoke at the Rotary luncheon meeting July 3rd about Northern Tier Camp Cadet. Trooper Salisbury is from upstate New York, and after his years in the Marine Corps, decided to apply to the PA State Police.
After the academy, he obtained his first job stationed here in Emporium.

Trooper Salisbury feels it is important to make a good impact with the youth in our county and one of the ways he felt was to volunteer as a counselor at Northern Tier Camp Cadet. Each summer Mansfield University hosts an exciting residential Camp Cadet for children ages 12-13. To qualify for the cadet program, applicants must be residents of Cameron, Potter or Tioga Counties, Pennsylvania. Applicants must be in good physical condition and willing to accept military type discipline. The Northern Tier Camp Cadet is designed to create a better understanding between the youths of the three county area and professional law enforcement. This year, 80 youth attended, 5 from Emporium. Rotary sends a donation each year to support the camp. Also pictured is Rotarian, Brian Harmon.
