Jimmie C. Baker


Jimmie C. Baker, 69, of 1872 Gardeau Rd, Austin, PA died at Penn Highlands-DuBois in DuBois, PA on Friday (April 20, 2018) afternoon. He was born August 29, 1948 in Marlinton, West Virginia a son of the late Jesse and Leeta Gay Baker. Jimmie served two tours of duty from 1968 through 1970 with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze medal of Valor and seven other awards for bravery because of how dangerous his missions were. When he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant and continued as a reservist. He then returned to Emporium and started a logging business which he worked for many years. He later was a truck driver for over fifteen years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his dogs especially "Buster". He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by a son, Brad (Patience Haight) Baker, Meadville, PA; his companion, Sylvia Faulk, Austin; one granddaughter, Nevah Baker and one step granddaughter Selina Faulk; sisters, Martha Kay (Don) Sherry, Keating Summit; Linda Baker, Evans City, PA; Nancy (Chuck) Umbenhauer, Emporium;

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin "Louie" and Wilbur Eugene "Beanie" Baker; two sisters, Betty Allman &  Bonnie Riffle; nephew, Roy Riffle.

The family will greet friends at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (May 5, 2018) from 10 AM until the Time of Remembrance Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

 In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to any local veterans organization of the donors choice.
