Myrl C. Reed


Myrl C. Reed, 93, of Rich Valley Road, Emporium, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in her home.

 Born May 30, 1924 in Eldred she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Lillian Brown Carpenter. On January 10, 1947 in Rew, Pa. she married Howard Reed who died in 2005.

 Myrl graduated from Eldred High School and from business school in Coraopolis, PA. A resident of Emporium since 1948, she was employed for eight years by Sylvania Electric in Emporium and for several years by Emporium Hardware. At the time of her retirement in 1987 she was employed as a secretary by DCNR in Emporium.
 Mrs. Reed was a longtime member of the Rich Valley Wesleyan Church in Emporium and was a Past Matron of the Emporium Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. 

 Survivors include: three sons, Herbert Reed (Debbie) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Howard Reed (Linda) of Richland, Washington State, and Gerald Reed (Tina) of Emporium; one sister, Sara Richardson of Holly, NY; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and also nieces and nephews. 

 Visitations will be held in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at which time Funeral & Committal Services will follow with Rev. Christine Groeger officiating.

 Burial will be in Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium. 

 Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society, Erie, PA.
