Rotary News


Rotarian, Carol Frank, introduced guest speaker, Cameron County Chief Deputy Sheriff, Brian Harmon, at the Rotary luncheon May 30th. Brian’s career has been from uniform to uniform. After graduating from Red Bank Valley High School in 1989, he joined the military attending boot camp at Fort Jackson, SC, and then to AIT training at Fort Gordon, GA. Next was Fort Riley, KS where he served for 2 years in the 1st Infantry Division - 72 ECHO assigned to head quarter command center. When the Persian Gulf War broke out in 1990, he deployed to, Saudi Arabia also spending time in Iraq & Kuwait. Brian said “the military provided him with guidance, discipline and an education.

When his enlistment was up in 1992, he thought about his future and heard that the PA State Police were hiring. Two weeks later, took a written test, along with 17,000 other people, and placed high enough to be awarded an oral interview. In January 1993 he was accepted and attended the PA State Police Academy afterward assigned to Troop F in Mansfield where he spent 15 months. In October 1994, Brian, just 23 years old, was reassigned to Emporium and has been here since. Brian has also been involved with the Northern Tier Camp Cadet for 13 years. After retirement, he was hired in his current positon with the Sheriff’s office.
