Ryan Anthony Zoschg 

On April 29, 2017, Ryan Anthony Zoschg passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, following an 11-year battle with brain cancer. Ryan was born April 30, 1973, and grew up in Emporium, PA, graduating from Cameron County High School in 1991. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1995. He began working at Vocollect Inc in 1996 and was employed there his entire career. During his time at Vocollect Ryan was granted over 10 patents and was instrumental in the development of their speech-recognition computers. His talents and passion for innovation helped grow that small Pittsburgh-based startup into an industry-leading company with products used by over 500,000 people worldwide. 

 In 2002 he met the love of his life Melissa Hopbell, who he married and with whom he had two beautiful children, daughter Zoey and son Matthew. In 2006 Ryan and his family moved to the Indiana Township/Fox Chapel area of Pittsburgh, where he applied his engineering mind to painstakingly renovating their home. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Parish in O’Hara Township.  
He leaves behind his wife Melissa, and his children Zoey and Matthew, both at home; his parents Matthew and Nancy Zoschg of Emporium, PA; his brother and sister-in-law Eric and April Zoschg and their sons Jordan and Mason of Raleigh, NC; his sister and brother-in-law Megan and Tom Canniere and their daughter (Ryan’s God-daughter) Josephine of Kinnelon, NJ; his parents-in-law Philip and Shirley Hopbell of Wilkins Township, PA; his sister-in-law Kimberly Hopbell Metzger and her daughter Savannah of Baltimore, MD; and his sister-in-law Kelly Cervi and her sons Karsen and Kameron of Jeannette, PA. 

His intelligence, stubbornness, love for mischief, kind heart, and infectious smile will be intensely missed by all of those who knew him.

 Friends will be received on Sunday April 30 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 1 at 10 AM at Saint Joseph’s Parish in O’Hara Township (EVERYONE PLEASE GATHER AT CHURCH). 

 He will be interred at St. Mark’s Cemetery in Emporium, PA.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the "Ryan Zoschg Children College Fund" at Citizen's & Northern Bank, 135 E. 4th Street, Emporium, PA 15834.
