Emporium Rotary Club’s 4 Way Speech Contest

Six students from the Cameron County High School participated in the Emporium Rotary Club’s 4 Way Speech Contest Tuesday, March 7th. The 4 Way Speech Contest is designed to introduce high school students to Rotary and the 4 Way Test by creating interest through a competitive speech contest sponsored by their local Rotary club.

First place winner of $100.00 was Mason Shaffer with a speech on Feminism, second place $50.00 was Emily Richnafsky’s speech on Abolishing the Death Penalty and third place $25.00 was Marissa Doud with a speech on Veteran’s Benefits. Mason will move on now to the Regional Contest in April. Other participants were John Legersky (War on Terror), Lily Martin (Elimination of Standardized Testing) and Luiz Patricio (Science of Heartbreak).

Rotary congratulates these upstanding students for their hard work and accomplishments. Rotary would also like to thank Maggie Sensing, speech & debate teacher, for all her hard work preparing the students, Superintendent, Dr. Keith Wolfe, for his attendance supporting the students. Also, thank you to Matt Ryan for volunteering as one of the judges, along with all the Rotarians who helped make the event successful.
