Taking a Step Back in Time

Taking a Step Back in Time

A group of Cameron County families have been taking a step back in time. Community Supportive Network buys weekly raw milk from Gods Country Creamery in Ulysses, purchases bulk natural pantry staples and hosts monthly meetings to teach each other new skills surrounding healthy living.

In the past, the group has gathered to make herbal skin care products like lip balm and homemade herbal medicinals. They currently sell their own homemade soap at the Aroma Café, where some of the meetings are held.

During Christmas in the Wilds Saturday, December 12, the group will offer soap for sale and have information available to any other residents that may be interested in participating in what they have to offer. The group, which meets the 2nd Thursday of every month, hopes more people will be interested in making soap, learning about bees, and participating in picnics and pot lucks. They want to continue to spread the word about taking a step back in time and showing people how important it is to have community be a part of everyone’s lives.

The name Community Supportive Network is the heart of this group. They help each other when in need, teach each other new skills and support local businesses.

For more information seek out their table during Christmas in the Wilds or send an email to Jen Kelly at jennz3@zitomedia.net.
