Gladys R. Bauer, age 85, a resident of the Guy and Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, formerly of West Fifth Street, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys.
Born February 8, 1930 in Weatherly, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Ruth Stewart Beers. On June 17, 1950 in Weatherly, PA she married Albert L. Bauer who died April 14, 1993
.
Formerly of Weatherly, she was a graduate of Weatherly High School and has been a resident of Emporium for the past 65 years.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Emporium, was employed for several years by Sylvania Electric in Emporium and for 20 years worked in the Cameron County High School cafeteria until retiring in 1990.
Survivors include: one son, Charles (Linda) Bauer of Olean, NY; two daughters, Kim (Don “Stretch”) Reed of Emporium and Vicki (Chuck) Pollock of Allegany, NY; three grandchildren, Krissy Williams, Scott (Kassie) Bauer and Justin Reed; six step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends including the Hammersley family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Alice Peiser and a brother, Adam Beers.
The family will receive friends in the First Presbyterian Church in Emporium on Sunday, November 1 from 2-4 p.m. at which time Funeral and Committal Services will follow with the Rev. Phil Sanders, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Guy and Mary Felt Manor.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
