Last evening an event honoring 5 inductees to the Hometown Hall of Fame was held at the Cameron County High School. These five were, Fred Williams (1880-1953) accepted by his youngest grand daughter Judy Lewis, Beth Summerson Lane, Denny Hockenberry ( Diana Lynn Hockenberry), Larry Boring and James Thompson.
Coach James Thompson was chosen to receive the Hometown Lifetime Achievement Award.

This was the second annual Hometown Hall of Fame Cameron County Sports Edition to be held at the Cameron County High School. It was emotional and informative evening learning how each person dedicated years of service to CCHS or carried the guidance of these great teachers with them over the years.

This event, sponsored by Hometown Mentors, Inc. (HMI), honors and brings home former CCHS sports stars who, as exceptional high school athletes and coaches, went on to encourage many others to follow their dreams and never give up on themselves. The keynote speaker on October 17, was Emporium’s own, Jeff Lloyd. Jeff graduated from CCHS as an exceptional athlete and went on to play in the National Football League. While in high school, Jeff excelled in basketball under the outstanding coach, Jim Thompson. At this year’s ceremony, Mr. Thompson received the 2015 HOMETOWN LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD from HMI.
