September is "Nam Knights Month" at The Bear Den.

Beginning September 1st and during the entire month of September is "Nam Knights Month" at The Bear Den.

The Bear Den is honored to be associated with such and organization and look forward to helping this organization with a percentage of sales for the month of September to be donated to the Nam Knights. So, they can help local veterans and law enforcement families in need of assistance.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Nam Knights it's time you learn about them. The Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club was established around 25 years ago by a group of law enforcement officers that were Vietnam veterans looking for the brotherhood they experienced in Vietnam. Not only did they serve this great country, they took it a step further to serve and protect our communities and neighborhoods.

Today, they have grown with chapters from New Hampshire to Florida and now with a chapter in Canada. Yeah, they wear colors, leather and patches. But during the day they wear suites, uniforms and put there lives on the line for us every day.

We should be honored that we have a local chapter here in Cameron County, Pa. "The Allegheny Mountain Chapter of The Nam Knights".

So, make it a point to stop in at The Bear Den and help support The Nam Knights. Then mark your calendars for September 26th from 7-11 to enjoy good music and food and to meet your local Nam Knights at the "Night of Knights" at The Bear Den.

Oh, I almost forgot. Everyone, 21 years and older who stop in during September 1st-26th, will receive a chance to win a flat screen TV that will be drawn and given away by our local Allegheny Mountain Chapter of The Nam Knights. No purchase necessary. Must be present to win.

Check out Septembers entertainment schedule:
September 4th Old Skool 7-11
 September 6th Randy Andriano 6-10
September 12 Jonathan Meade 7-11
September 26 "Night of Knights" with Jonathan Meade 7-11

The Bear Den is located at 24426 Route 120 Sterling Run, Pennsylvania

First Ever PA Wilds Juried Artist Show

First Ever PA Wilds Juried Artist Show

For the first time, only PA Wilds Juried Artist will sell artwork at an event in the PA Wilds. The event will coincide with the All Fired Up & Kickin Ash BBQ Contest in Cameron County on Saturday September 26 in Emporium.PA Wilds Juried Artist live in the 12 ½ counties that make up the PA Wilds.

The artwork has been juried and deemed to be of high quality earning the right to carry the Made in PA Wilds tag. “The idea for a show limited to juried PA Wilds artist came about during a presentation in Potter County,” explains Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Johns Solak. Seeking a way to further distinguish the work of those living in the PA Wilds is the goal of the first ever event. “It is hoped that each county will host a PA Wilds Juried Show,” says Johns Solak

.More than 100 PA Wilds Juried Artists have been invited to the event. Free workshops held for artisans, entrepreneurs looking to join the PAWilds Artisan Trail

Aug. 5, 2015 – The PA Wilds Artisan Trail, in concert with the Tioga County Visitors Bureau and the Wellsboro Chamber, will be holding free “Make the Brand Work for You” workshop in Tioga County next Thursday for small batch producers, independent retailers, artisans and other creative entrepreneurs looking to learn more about joining the Artisan Trail and using the “Proudly Made in the Pennsylvania Wilds” brand and networks to grow their operations.

The workshop will be held at the Wellsboro Chamber Office on Thurs., Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. The workshop and Q & A will run one hour, with refreshments provided. Workshops will provide background about the Artisan Trail program, benefits to joining, costs and the process for applying to the juried program.

Since its inception in 2006, the Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan Trail has proven to raise the visibility and profitability of artisans and arts-related businesses in the PA Wilds by increasing sales of high-quality products made by local artisans and traffic to local galleries and retail shops.

The Artisan Trail has recently gone through several expansions allowing new types of businesses to join.On major new development is that the Trail is now inviting small batch craft ag and food producers to join the Trail and use the ‘Proudly Made in the Pennsylvania Wilds’ brand.

“We’d love to see the ‘Proudly Made in the Pennsylvania Wilds’ stamp on our region’s syrups, jellies, leek dips and other small batch products that reflect our rural traditions,” said Tataboline Enos, Executive Director of the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, the regional non-profit that operates theArtisan Trail program.

“We’ve tried to keep the program very affordable, from $25 a year for our smallest artisan producers to $150 for our larger ones. We do this because we are working to build our regional brand and we know no one can influence it the way our artisans and creative entrepreneurs can. The Artisan Trail is working to grow this cottage industry. We have so much talent in this region, it is incredible.”

To date, more than 150 artisans and retailers across the region participate in the PA Wilds Artisan Trail. Organizers hope to double that over the next few years. PA DCED, PA DCNR, the Appalachian RegionalCommission and the Stackpole-Hall Foundation have all made grant investments in the program.

Summer Drive

Correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't noticed any elsewhere on my summer drives.
