Cameron County Chamber of Commerce announces three events for the spring. They include two yearly outings and a brand new opportunity for residents.
Saturday April 25 will be Clean up Cameron County. Individuals and groups will be asked to sweep away the winter debris and prepare for spending more time outdoors. Projects this year include litter pick up along the West Creek Rails to Trails, raking and putting down fresh mulch at the entrance signs, caboose and mini-park in Emporium, washing vacant store front windows in the business district and if there are enough volunteers additional projects will be added. The Emporium Volunteer Firefighters will clean the sidewalks and Fourth Street Tuesday night April 14. Emporium borough workers will rake the empty lots where snow was dumped and provide mulch for the projects. Individuals or groups are asked to contact the chamber office at 814-486-4314 to register for the event.
Saturday May 16 Emporium Rotary Club will host Rotary Day in the county. Busses will transport residents, students and parents from Sizerville State Park to various businesses in the region. “The purpose is to encourage residents and students to spread the word about economic opportunities here at home,” explained Tina Solak, Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. Breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge and students are eligible for prizes including tablets and gift cards. To register for the event contact the chamber office.
National Trails Day is Saturday June 6 and this year, Hike Cameron County will focus on the West Creek Rails to Trails. Nelson Haas will lead a group on the 12 mile excursion featuring a wildflower program. The event which starts at 9:00am from the caboose in Emporium is free and no pre-registration is necessary.
