Cameron County Historical Society Spring Hike

Cameron County Historical Society Spring Hike:
Coke Ovens Saturday, April 25 at 10:00am

All interested hikers will meet at the Caboose at 10am for instructions and potential car pooling.

Junior Murray, local coke oven historian and Cameron County Historical Society board member, Wendy Davis will guide the group into the location of the historic Coke Ovens and tell about the construction and details of the ovens. The abandoned coke ovens, neglected for decades, covered in undergrowth are an amazing architectural landmark surrounded by the beauty of the Pennsylvania wilds.

The hike should last approximately 2 hours. There will be some steep slopes, muddy and some uneven or rough terrain so appropriate attire, sturdy shoes and insect repellant is suggested. In the event of inclement weather, the hike will be rescheduled.

The Cancellation, if required, will be announced on WLEM radio.

This no-cost hike is sponsored by Cameron County Historical Society in cooperation with DCNR and is open the the public.
