Emporium Turns 150

Emporium Borough celebrates its 150th birthday this fall.  To kick off the celebration The Cameron County Historical Society will offer a stroll down memory lane.  A walking tour ending with a celebration lunch at Charlie’s Friendly Tavern will be held Saturday August 30.

The tour will begin at the Emporium Borough Office at 11am.  It will stop at more than 30 sites in Emporium, covering approximately 1.5 miles.  Most of those sites held hotels dating back to 1848.  Enlarged historical photos will be at each site and Susan Hoy will narrate the event.

Participants will have their choice of sandwich and drink following a Historical Walk of Emporium sponsored by the Emporium Borough and hosted by the Cameron county Historical Society.  The cost is $15.00 per person.  Reservations are accepted at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office, or by calling 814-486-4314.
