Spend National Trail Day on a Cameron County Trail

June 7 is National Trail Day. Nelson Haas will lead hikers on a 6mile adventure on Brooks Run Saturday June 7. Participants can car pool from the Cameron County Chamber at 11am. The hike will begin by noon and participants can park along Ridge Road. The Ridge Trail will finish at Sinnemahoning State Park, where an outfitter will be conducting demonstrations using canoe, kayak, and mountain bikes. A shuttle for participants will return them to their vehicles on Ridge Road.

Haas a member of Mountaineer Search & Rescue has been leading folks on hikes since 2010 when Cameron County offered a series of hikes commemorating the 150th birthday of the county. Areas explored by Haas include the site of the Pepper Hill Fire, Canoe Run Trail, Bucktail Path, the corner stone marking the boundary of Elk and Cameron Counties, and even a night hike to the Whittimore Hill Fire Tower. Across the nation, hikes will be promoted. In Cameron County DCNR trails through the Elk State Forest will be highlighted.

For more information on the hike contact the
