Retailers:
Do You Know What Drug Users Want From Your Store?
Retailers in Cameron County have
contacted the chamber of commerce with questions regarding items that those
using illegal drugs may purchase or steal to aide them in the use of the
drugs. “In two cases, the retailers have
noticed that items are missing from their shelves,” says executive director Tina Johns Solak. Those facts have spearheaded a free seminar
to be held at the chamber office.
Emporium Police Chief Matt Siple
confirms he has heard similar stories about silverware and plumbing fixtures
stolen from businesses. Siple will
oversee the meeting with retailers on Tuesday February 4 at 6pm at the chamber
office. “Information on how retailers
can prevent theft and establishing a line of communication with the police
department regarding suspicious activity is the goal of the meeting,” according
to Johns Solak.
Anyone wishing more information
is asked to contact either the Emporium Police Department or Cameron County
Chamber of Commerce office.
