Salvatore Fapore

FAPORE, SALVATORE (SAM), age 84, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2013 due to natural causes. Sam was born on March 1, 1929 in Emporium, PA, the second of seven children born to Dominic and Jenny Fapore.

Sam attended Emporium High School where he played football and basketball. After graduating, Sam enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1948 to 1952. After being honorably discharged, Sam went on to attend the University of Miami where he received a Bachelor in Business Administration in 1956. While attending the University of Miami, Sam grew to appreciate everything South Florida had to offer and decided to put down roots in Miami where he met and married Janet Hellyer Nichols.
In 1956, building on his education and business acumen, Sam became a pioneer in Florida's burgeoning pool enclosure industry. He worked tirelessly for 50 plus years to shape the industry, building the largest and most successful pool and screen enclosure company in the state, Climatrol, Inc. Many of the successful screen companies in existence today can be traced back to Sam's vision and efforts. Sam was both an avid sportsman and sports fan. He was a passionate and long-time supporter of the Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins not to mention a seasoned (and highly competitive) golfer.

Sam was a beloved and generous husband, father, grandfather and great grand-father and will be profoundly missed. He was larger than life even in his passing.

He is survived by his three daughters: Tracy Fapore Graham, Debbie Smith and Lynne T. Williams; two son-in-laws: James Smith and Neil Williams; one daughter-in-law: Carla Travaglini; six grandchildren: Jennifer Williams, Samantha Smith, Alexis Smith, Lacey Peirce, Jessica Daddio and Ryan Fuda; one great-grandchild: Joshua Alan Peirce; two sisters: Angie Colwell and Grace Wright; three brothers: Michael, Dennis and Donnie Fapore.

Sam was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Janet Nichols Fapore, son, Alan Travaglini and sister, Patricia Caton. Services will be held at 1pm on Sunday, November 3rd 2013 at Palm Beach Memorial Park, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, FL 33462. Following the service, relatives and friends are welcome to join us for a celebration of Sam's life at Delray Dunes Golf and Country Club, 12005 Dunes Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33436.

Burial will be at St. Mark Cemetery in Emporium, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome at The First Tee Miami (The First Tee Miami, DAGA, 1802 NW 37th Avenue, Miami, FL 33125) and the University of Miami (University of Miami, Advancement Division, Post Office Box 248073, Coral Gables, Florida 33124 or www.miami.edu)
