Thursday Night Fire Damages Emporium Home

Thursday night at approximately 9:30 pm, the Emporium Fire Department and Emergecy personel responded to a residental fire on E 3rd street. Upon arriving, flames and smoke were seen in the home.
 
 Neighbors Rick Uber & Neddie Olivett were alerted to the fire when they heard shouts coming from the house next door. Looking out the window, they noticed flames in the basement of the home. They were among the 1st to call 911.  The home is rented by Paula Berry and Michael Moscoto. Rick Uber stated " he ran to the house next door, and heard Paula shouting at the front doorway. She was on the floor next to the door, but unable to exit the home. Rick stated he took ahold of her and slid her out of the burning home. Paula was examined by emergency personel  at the scene" Michael had re-entered the house in an attempt to locate the couples cat, but he was uanble to find it. Mr Moscoto was able to exit the home.
 
Firefighters soon had the fire under control. They were still on scene as of midnight.
