Saturday
June 1 is National Trails Day promoted by conservation groups and recreation
enthusiasts across the United States. In
Cameron County Nelson Haas will lead a group to a survey marker at the border
of Elk and Cameron Counties. The unique
marker is found on Gravel Lick about two miles from Mix Run Road in the
Quehanna Area.
Hikers will carpool from the chamber office in
Emporium at 10am. Those wishing to
participate in the four mile hike are encouraged to contact the chamber office
in advance. Because of the steep terrain
and a stream crossing, hikers are encouraged to dress appropriately and
consider bringing a walking stick.
There is no fee, but to have an accurate head
count, those wishing to participate should call the chamber office at 814-486-4314
or register by email cameroncountychamber@windstream.net.
