Unemployment up across region in January - The Bradford Era: News - Unemployment up across region in January: Local: Unemployment rose in McKean, Elk, Cameron and Potter counties in January, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry.

Data released Tuesday by the department’s Center for Workforce Information and Analysis shows that Cameron County is again at the bottom of the state, with a seasonally adjusted rate of 12.8 percent for the month, up from 12 percent the month before. The January rate was a considerable increase from one year prior as well. In January 2012, Cameron County posted a 10.5 percent unemployment rate.
Cameron County is ranked 67th among the state’s 67 counties for unemployment rates, with Philadelphia and Wyoming counties tying for the next-lowest spot with 11.4 percent unemployment
