Only on 6: Kennel owner injured after trying to stop robbery

By Brittany Boyer
EMPORIUM, Pa. —
A 62-year-old Cameron County woman is recovering after receiving an injury while trying to stop a robbery in her business.
Betty Allen of Emporium told 6 News it was around 6:30 a.m. when a man wearing dark baggy clothes and a mask came into her store, Krazy "A" Dog Kennel in Shippen Township.
Allen told 6 News the man said, "today is going to be your lucky day," and began going through the cash register.
Allen said the many got away with a few hundred dollars.
While trying to leave the store, Allen attempted to remove his hood and mask to reveal the suspects identity.
"I tried to grab onto him, he turned around and kicked me in my side and in my back and I fell to the floor," she said.
Allen said the man got away.
She told police she was unable to see what direction he went because she could not get up.
"That showed me that whoever was under that clothing is not a true man. He was out for himself, and himself only. That just isn't right," she said.
Allen is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone that can provide information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information should call state police in Emporium at 486-3321.
