Leslie J. Haas


Leslie J. Haas, 64, of 475 Lance Dr., Ridgway, died unexpectedly at Ridgway Township on Friday, February 24, 2012.
He was born September 12, 1947 in Allentown, PA a son of Marlowe Arner Haas of Emporium and the late James Haas.
On August 17, 1969 in Williamsburg, VA he married Janet Hutchens Haas, who survives.

Mr. Haas graduated from Council Rock High School in Newtown, PA in the class of 1965 and from Paul Smith College in 1968 with a degree in forestry. He served with the US Army from 1968 to 1971 as a military policeman. He worked for Lower Makefield Township as a policeman from 1972 to 1984. He then moved to Elk County in March 1984 to work as a Waterway Conservation Officer for the PA Fish and Boat Commission. He retired in 2004. He was a regular attendee of the CMA Church of Emporium. He was a endowment member of the NRA, a member of the Pa. Federation of Sportsman, Elk Co. Conservation District, Paul Smith's Alumni group, BASS, Buckmaster Whitetail Deer Hunting Association, National Trapper's Association, Christian Sportsman Fellowship.

are his wife Janet Hutchens Haas
Son: Christopher Haas and his wife Delores, Sinnemahoning
Daughter: Rebecca Peters and her husband George, Emporium
Son: Seth Haas and his wife Alycia, Rock Hill, SC
5 Grandchildren: Anna, Jed, Katrina, Nick & Brianna
Brother: Nelson Haas and his wife Rose, Emporium
and several nieces and nephews.

Father: James Haas who died Aug. 26, 2006

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Sizerville Road, Emporium on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Mark Conklin, Pastor and Pastor Chris Haas of the Down County Baptist Church officiating. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

The family will receive friends at Church one hour prior to the service.
