Emporium Area Accidents

An Emporium woman and her passenger sustained  minor injuries in a crash on January 20, 2012 at 1:46 a.m. on Route 120 in Shippen Township.
Jody L. Wiltrout, 27, and her passenger, Dennis M. Cressley, 52, both of Emporium, PA, were assisted at the scene by Emporium Ambulance but were not transported for their injuries.
Wiltrout was arrested for DUI and Driving Vehicle At Safe Speed.
Trooper Craig D. Heim, who investigated, said the crash occurred as Wiltrout was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger west on snow covered SR 120. She lost control of the pickup and it traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a utility pole before going over an embankment.

An Emporium man and his passenger were not injured when their 2001 Ford Escape crashed into a mailbox post on icy Gardeau Road, 2.2 miles west of Rt. 155 on Saturday at 10:10 pm. Both driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.
Paul T. Griffith, 19, of Emporium, PA was traveling west on Gardeau Road lost control of the vehicle on the slippery roadway, traveled across the opposite side of the roadway and struck a mailbox post on the opposite side of the road.
Neither Griffith or his passenger Robert Banks, 19, of Emporium was injured.
Trooper Michael W. Smith stated that no charges were placed.
