Emporium downtown merchants will celebrate Weekend in the Wilds on Saturday July 2 with a Wine Walk in the Wilds. Pre-registration is underway today with a limited number of tickets available. The pre-event price is $20.00 and the day of event price increases to $25.00.
“Emporium Water Company and Mountain Country Energy Services Inc. are co-sponsoring the event along with the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce,” explains executive director Tina Johns Lorson. This event will take place along Fourth Street inside businesses. The businesses participating include Pizza Palace Place, Cameron’s Beauty Salon, Fox’s Pizza Den in Emporium, Aroma CafĂ© & Restaurant, Chateau Soleil, Floor Masters Inc. and Cabin Kitchen. The chamber will offer a variety of home-made wines for tasting. At each location at least two types of wine from various wineries will be available for sampling along with appetizers.
The event will begin at 3pm and continue until 6pm. Participants must register at the chamber office and show identification with a birth date. No one under the age of 21 will be allowed to participate. Once registered, participants will receive a souvenir wine glass and wrist band. Johns Lorson says, “This event again focuses on local businesses. Participants will have the opportunity to visit with the owners of the businesses and see what they have to offer.”
Glasses can be reserved by stopping in at the chamber office, or calling 814-486-4314. Phone reservations with a credit card are accepted. In conjunction with the Wine Walk in the Wilds, a wine basket will be raffled off. It will include wine from the area, hand painted glasses from artist Marie Fannin and a wine bottle holder from woodworker James Degler.
