ArtFest - Weekend in the Wilds

Mark your calendars for the July 4th weekend! Organizers of the ArtFest/Weekend in the Wilds in Cameron County say there will be plenty to do.

The event begins Friday night July 1, with a tour of music. Mary Schroyer will play the harp at the Presbyterian Church and the Bucktail Brass will entertain at the First United Methodist Church. Saturday events begin at sunrise with the 2nd annual Big Foot Hunt, More than 30 artists will open their booths at 10 am and ABATE will host a motorcycle show till 4 in the afternoon. Author Ken Hull will be signing books at the Aroma Café and Restaurant. Entertainment will kick off with the Community Band. A stained glass tour is planned for Saturday. Groups will leave from the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce at 11 am. Saturday night the attention turns to the Cameron County High School. Fireworks will be set off at dusk.

Executive Director of the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center, Tina Johns Lorson, says more events are being added each week. “Because of the limited space for artists and the early registration, I encourage any artists considering the event, to contact the chamber as soon as possible.” Combining the two events provides more activities that will appeal to a broader group of people. “If you are looking for food, fun and events that last from sun up to sundown come to Cameron County July 1 and 2,” continued Johns Lorson.
