James O. "Pete" Uber,

James O. "Pete" Uber, 90, of 42 McDaniel Ave., Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (February 5, 2011) in the Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.


An area resident for most of his life, he was born November 30, 1920, in Emporium, Pa., a son of the late Edward and Ella Beldin Uber.

He attended Emporium High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving overseas during World War II, receiving three service stars during his enlistment.
Before his retirement he was a machinist for the former Marlin Rockwell Corporation where he worked for over 40 years.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved sports, especially baseball and football. He also loved to spend time in his garden and with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Anna F. Allen, whom he married June 28, 1947, three sons: Edward Uber of Jamestown, David Uber of Fla. and Robert (Melissa) Uber of Jamestown, two daughters: Cindy Odom and Penny Uber, both of Florida, his grandchildren: Shane, Sean and Tyler Uber of Jamestown, Justin Stanford of Utah, Jordanne Stanford, Diane Mitchell of Florida, Bob, Mary, Tina and Chrissy Uber, all of Jamestown, and Michelle Uber of Meadville, Pa., eleven great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert N. Uber of Emporium, Pa.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson David Danielson and by nine brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
