Betty C. Scanlon, age 76, of Painted Post, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at home with her family by her side. Betty was born on January 19, 1934 in Campbell, NY, the daughter of Gilbert and Catherine (Burley) Quick. She married Robert F. Scanlon on December 30, 1951 in Campbell.
Betty is survived by her husband: Robert F. Scanlon; two sons: Gerald (Elaine) Scanlon of Jacksonville, FL, Randall Scanlon of Corning; three daughters: Barbara (Thomas) Darmstadt of Caton, Joan Scanlon of Bath, Kimberly Scanlon-Fenton of Dundee; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Scanlon, and by sisters, Mary Lou Clark and Shirley Pierson.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street in Corning from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A funeral service will be held there immediately after calling hours at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609-5896, or to Southern Tier Hospice & Palliative Care, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830.
