Cameron County Receives Natural Gas Impact Fees

Natural Gas Impact Fees to Benefit Region

In addition to supporting the state’s energy needs and providing good-paying careers, Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry contributed nearly $180 million in impact fees in 2023.

Locally, Cameron County and its municipalities will receive $852,978, McKean County and its municipalities will receive $826,353, and Potter County and its municipalities will receive $607,650. Impact fees are distributed to municipalities based on the amount of natural gas drilling occurring there.

Since the enactment of impact fees, nearly $40 million has been returned to counties and municipalities in the 67th Legislative District.

Under Act 13 of 2012, impact fees are collected from natural gas drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The rest of the money goes into a Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, a portion of which is provided to counties. The remaining funds are used by the state for emergency response planning, training and other activities; water, storm water, and sewer system construction and repair; infrastructure maintenance and repair; as well as statewide environmental initiatives.

PGC Expands Mentored Hunting Program

PGC Expands Mentored Hunting Program

Continuing its efforts to get more people involved in hunting in the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners recently approved a plan to allow mentors hunting with a mentored youth to accompany up to two additional hunters, be they mentored youth, junior hunters or mentored adults.

Previously, no additional junior or mentored hunters could accompany a mentor hunting with a mentored youth. There was a required one-to-one mentor/mentee ratio. That limit has now changed to three. The requirement that limits mentors and mentored youth to possessing only one sporting arm between them remains.

The mentor must carry the sporting arm at all times while moving. Junior hunters and mentored adults may possess their own sporting arms while accompanied by a common mentor.

This change will be in place in time for the fall hunting seasons. Learn more about mentored hunting at

Mountain Paws Grooming & Boarding Business Update

Mountain Paws Grooming & Boarding Business Update

I wanted everyone to know that for the last four or five days my phone has not worked correctly.
It is the service up here on the mountain - it shows that I no longer have enough service to make phone calls but then at different times of the day I am able to.
Texting me is the best way to get a hold of me or using the mountain paws Facebook Messenger.
I am so sorry that this is happening, and we might have to look into getting a home phone back.
You can text me at 814-594-7655, message the Facebook page, or you can leave me a voicemail but I'm not receiving them until I drive to somewhere with better reception.
