Holiday Book Gifting Program

Holiday Book Gifting Program

The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library has once again decided to hold its Holiday Book Gifting Program. The program runs now through December 16 to ensure all books can be received by Christmas.

We will be accepting monetary donations from members of the community to go towards the purchase of a new book(s) for children and teens in our area. Donations will be accepted through December 22.

Anyone interested in donating should stop by the Memorial Library or the Cameron County Chamber to purchase an “ornament” to go towards the purchase of a book. Ornaments will be sold in $2, $5, $10, and $20 increments.

Anyone interested in having a book gifted to an area child (children) this holiday season should complete the request form and return it by dropping it off at the library or mail it to: Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 West 4 th Street, Emporium PA, 15834.

All 2nd grade students at Woodland Elementary will be able to order a book through their teachers thanks to last year’s donation from the school’s Penny Wars Fundraiser.

Forms can be obtained at the library, Cameron County Chamber, or downloaded from www.barbaramoscatobrownlibrary.org under the “Library Contests & Fundraisers” tab.

Please be sure to include a phone number or email so we can reach you to receive the gift.

Cameron County Community Chest 2024 Fund Drive – Nov. Update

Cameron County Community Chest 2024 Fund Drive – Nov. Update

We are 4 weeks into the 2024 fund drive. We have had a great start! Through Nov. 30th, we have collected $4,855.00 toward our goal of $16,600. Thanks to all who have contributed. This drive will run through September 30, 2024.

Watch for our monthly updates. Each month we will feature a write up on one of the organizations that the Cameron County Community Chest contributes to. This month we will feature the Package Team.

A group of Rich Valley Women started the Package Team over 20 years ago. The team currently sends out around 65 to 70 packages (a little piece of Cameron County for Christmas) each year to our local service men, women and reservists. Boxes are filled with snacks, coffee, toiletries, paper, pens, newspapers, playing cards and letters from the kids. Some items are donated by local businesses and churches. Other items are purchased. Postage is the largest cost. If you would like to find out more about the Package Team, get your Service Person on the list, or make a donation to the Package Team, please contact Karin Schatz at (814) 486-0573, Text cell phone at (814) 512-0936 or e-mail at thepackageteamcc@gmail.com.

No donation/memorial is too small. Please send your tax-deductible contribution to: Cameron County Community Chest, PO Box 134, Emporium, PA 15834, Attn: Judd Schager . Help support the Recreation Board, Community Nurses, Red Cross, Friends of the Library, the Package Team, the Garden Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, Sylvan Heritage, SPCA and Special Community Requests.
