John is also a current board member at the Bucktail Rod & Gun Club. </div><div style="text-align: center;"> As a child, John would spend time hunting and fishing in Cameron County with his family who rented a cabin from Fern Bush in Clear Creek. In 2000, he and his wife, fellow Rotarian, Paige Rosenberger, purchased a cabin here. They would travel 3.5 hours from their home in Chambersburg to spend weekends in the heart of the PA Wilds with their two children. Eventually, John retired from his career as a PA State Trooper. In 2018, he and his wife purchased their home in North Creek and became permanent residents and active community members of Cameron County.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubofEmporium" target="_blank">https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubofEmporium</a><br /></div>Cameron Countyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02538396923971810864noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438119966130690612.post-72235530232325980592024-03-18T19:03:00.000-07:002024-03-18T19:26:56.997-07:00Cameron County Bucktail Rod & Gun Club Hats for Sale<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzSWTtzct4pRRDKRjtaR4GG9Wwdg4WWVOnJf-C6C3sEuwsdfGvCywSMIWspbeIB_BYg_LhxJ7hpjvXpQwlvx5WkGphdyQL6khe69qsPKEPQvU_F5LGZuq0nES16THanPTdj-oy4fgnM79FIBBbmZE907nuXRPormxuUpJmQyoEa23xC2mmV6rHrkMut7M/s960/433610243_7392863607476939_2408579235941998755_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="520" data-original-width="960" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzSWTtzct4pRRDKRjtaR4GG9Wwdg4WWVOnJf-C6C3sEuwsdfGvCywSMIWspbeIB_BYg_LhxJ7hpjvXpQwlvx5WkGphdyQL6khe69qsPKEPQvU_F5LGZuq0nES16THanPTdj-oy4fgnM79FIBBbmZE907nuXRPormxuUpJmQyoEa23xC2mmV6rHrkMut7M/w400-h216/433610243_7392863607476939_2408579235941998755_n.jpg" width="400" /></a> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcJO2ZUO_lJbOGrqpnJaaMvs4BKxHMDshaxcV4mCRug8hZq50L4dHGYVLLyOjmuEm90SHYi_wWvNEIPFtdJUhrVRNwGKowuydoQ5nFw5CT35pNOtU6g2rnZ2PN51h1_ESrxZZbtFi_5K-15XWOiOTz_BJSviwkfjiFOgMQjYIyi2J2FuBXKCJJqyMCk5o/s1074/359820568_658942002935412_5048230046800218012_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1074" data-original-width="1042" height="145" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcJO2ZUO_lJbOGrqpnJaaMvs4BKxHMDshaxcV4mCRug8hZq50L4dHGYVLLyOjmuEm90SHYi_wWvNEIPFtdJUhrVRNwGKowuydoQ5nFw5CT35pNOtU6g2rnZ2PN51h1_ESrxZZbtFi_5K-15XWOiOTz_BJSviwkfjiFOgMQjYIyi2J2FuBXKCJJqyMCk5o/w141-h145/359820568_658942002935412_5048230046800218012_n.jpg" width="141" /></a></div></div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;">Cameron County Bucktail Rod & Gun Club hats for Sale.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Please call Bari Poorman at 8144869435. </div><div style="text-align: center;"> They are $25.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Benefits Bucktail Rod & Gun Club!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/CameronCountyBucktailRodandGunClu" target="_blank">https://www.facebook.com/CameronCountyBucktailRodandGunClu</a><br /></div>Cameron Countyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02538396923971810864noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438119966130690612.post-9931806512351806602024-03-18T18:45:00.000-07:002024-03-18T18:45:39.349-07:00FCC Mandates New Labels for Broadband Data <p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSIz3J8KH_6Zf58-Z6I9ZwAxpj6poqVG87XId-9OS590qk8RJl2IILmJj9Be_qEn8fsK59YfK-Uv1-2k9UDKpntj09FNT8cHKJ_giw_C_HdMWcLBKok-CVlGWWvURtfUQUViYo6YYKELqOGndA27eyTpBUpQ6HCMK7HiMZJnNgdm7DDeZKWB0sDkQt8-Y/s2050/1140x2508-broadband-nutrition-label.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2050" data-original-width="932" height="419" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSIz3J8KH_6Zf58-Z6I9ZwAxpj6poqVG87XId-9OS590qk8RJl2IILmJj9Be_qEn8fsK59YfK-Uv1-2k9UDKpntj09FNT8cHKJ_giw_C_HdMWcLBKok-CVlGWWvURtfUQUViYo6YYKELqOGndA27eyTpBUpQ6HCMK7HiMZJnNgdm7DDeZKWB0sDkQt8-Y/w190-h419/1140x2508-broadband-nutrition-label.jpg" width="190" /></a></div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Shopping for Internet Plans Can Be Confusing. </b></div><div style="text-align: center;">New Rules Will Simplify It
Broadband ‘nutrition labels’ will look like ones on food, let you compare features, prices</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>By Edward C. Baig, AARP

<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">"Most people instantly recognize the nutrition labels on packaging that let you know the calories, cholesterol and fat content in processed foods and beverages. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hopes to bring similar transparency to people shopping for high-speed internet access. New rules from the agency will require internet service providers (ISPs) across the country to display uniform broadband information inspired by the Food and Drug Administration’s Nutrition Facts labeling.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The goal is to let consumers compare. These rules are set to go into effect April 10 for most ISPs, though providers with fewer than 100,000 subscribers have until Oct. 10. They meet requirements in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that President Biden signed into law in 2021.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The labels will apply to at-home internet and wireless broadband plans. The FCC adopted one label requiring the same information and in the same format for both fixed and mobile broadband service offerings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">And these labels will be available for broadband plans aimed at new customers. Losey, 98, Pioneer Road, Emporium, PA, passed away Wednesday afternoon (March 13, 2024). Born July 12, 1925 in Dents Run, PA a son of the late Lee J. and Daisy C. Rider Losey, he was raised in rural Benezette Township, graduating Benezette High School class of 1942 (class of 5). The Bennetts Valley area, its mountain top vistas, feeder trout streams, and old logging roads and abandoned railroads remained a playground his entire life. Working in the area coal industry for a time, he enlisted in the US Army in August of 1944, serving in the Pacific Theatre, and honorably discharged in August 1946. After service to his country, he returned briefly to the coal industry, but it seemed life had a different calling in mind. A required aptitude test at the St. Mary’s unemployment office identified some talent for mechanical drawing and landed him a drafting position at Sylvania in Emporium in 1948. A 40 year career in automated equipment design and management ensued, culminating in a final year abroad in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the headquarters for Sylvania successor company Philpis Electronics.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">It was at Sylvania that Harold was introduced to his future wife, an interesting young secretary from Strasbourg, France, Denise Lillian (Schmitt) Losey, who survives. They were married July 11, 1953 and raised two children in Emporium; daughter, Cora A. Badagliacca (Mario), Little River, SC and son, Harold Losey, Jr. (Kristen), Chichester NH who also survive along with three grandchildren: Emma Losey, Lilly Losey, Dena Aalto; one great granddaughter, Alexandra; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Losey and two sisters, Beatrice Weis and Freda Harrison.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">A conservative and frugal man who valued self-sufficiency and hard work, Harold was a good role model for the next generations. He equally enjoyed his time away from work, with hunting, fly fishing, travel and golf at Emporium CC, always near the top of the list.</div>

received for the annual event. It will take place Saturday April 13 on the Driftwood Branch of The
Sinnemahoning Creek. The starting line is across from the Emporium Country Club and the 11 mile race
ends in Driftwood. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Registration forms can be picked up at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office or printed from
the web page www.sinnemahone.org. Online registration is also open at
https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Emporium/SinnemahonePaddle. There are several classes for kayaks and
canoes including tandem kayaks. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The price is $45.00 for adults and $30.00 for children under the age of 18. Competitors receive a $10 food
voucher, t-shirt and goodie bag. To be guaranteed a t-shirt, registrations must be received by April 1. The
coveted traveling trophy named for Bob Umbenhauer will be up for grabs! The event has been held for
decades beginning in the 1950’s with friends and moving to the Cameron County Canoe & Kayak Classic
before joining the Sinnemahone Triple Crown. It is the first leg of the Sinnemahone Triple Crown which
includes a gravel bike race and trail run. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Safety for the event is coordinated with Mountaineer Search & Rescue. Water rescue teams from across
the region will be on the stream banks and fire police will direct traffic and parking at the start and finish.
Water levels may force a change to the course. That decision will be made by April 11.</div>Cameron Countyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02538396923971810864noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438119966130690612.post-20855839945995268232024-03-14T14:35:00.000-07:002024-03-14T14:35:20.664-07:00Crochet Workshop Series <p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJEB3ej9P8X21BqEvdF9oNc0CWIUy6NLN_MHH-PxR0ukDxcq8q70t49Zu57N3lsazwoxaJDu0cFvCaLZct2bRPk2V8FwByn8lN0iKrXqtVpwDLGXjPE-4wfDP2Nhpkb8L5hZeKo5MPBsM6Out78XMyidKrcI1gmwrNlmsFvidyIIx0LRG4EjvOThXMtb0/s843/431757457_804870711681848_282987949386066668_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="843" data-original-width="843" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJEB3ej9P8X21BqEvdF9oNc0CWIUy6NLN_MHH-PxR0ukDxcq8q70t49Zu57N3lsazwoxaJDu0cFvCaLZct2bRPk2V8FwByn8lN0iKrXqtVpwDLGXjPE-4wfDP2Nhpkb8L5hZeKo5MPBsM6Out78XMyidKrcI1gmwrNlmsFvidyIIx0LRG4EjvOThXMtb0/w400-h400/431757457_804870711681848_282987949386066668_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUAIgwT9aXedQllX6ZELZsjcbGHrMlbyKtbBW3Gg0uBNkJ5nDb4oUlGYU1pc8yE3qYDrKEQP_xIG540Alk1VwrEsKyLqmzLs0bJIDDa5PrhGj5uvP7PZLJnaagBd2ak3mjN-C-kbXZja1PFxtPZseyp-2nd0B5wnscHEKw77PrJ81x5K7dsXROGCK0aUE/s1482/0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1482" data-original-width="1186" height="171" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUAIgwT9aXedQllX6ZELZsjcbGHrMlbyKtbBW3Gg0uBNkJ5nDb4oUlGYU1pc8yE3qYDrKEQP_xIG540Alk1VwrEsKyLqmzLs0bJIDDa5PrhGj5uvP7PZLJnaagBd2ak3mjN-C-kbXZja1PFxtPZseyp-2nd0B5wnscHEKw77PrJ81x5K7dsXROGCK0aUE/w137-h171/0.jpg" width="137" /></a></div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;">Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library in partnership with ECCOTA Present the Crochet Workshop Series taught by Crochet Artist Amanda Knight. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Thursdays 5-7PM & Saturdays 1-3PM from April 18 through May 18 </div><div style="text-align: center;">Workshop is open to ages 14-20.</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Register early for this super fun beginner crochet workshop series! </div><div style="text-align: center;">Learn crochet techniques while creating a complete project - an emotional support potato complete with googly eyes.
