Augustus A. "Gus" Zito


Augustus A. "Gus" Zito, 86, of 106 Glasgow Ct., Stephens City, Virginia formerly of Emporium, PA died at his residence on Thursday (August 4, 2016) morning.

He was born June 21, 1930 in Emporium, PA a son of the late Anthony and Amelia Nicolo Zito. In Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lackawanna, NY he married the late Anna Mae Scott Zito. Mr. Zito graduated from Emproium High School and attended Lock Haven University. He served with the US Army, from July 23, 1948 until August 19, 1952, during the Korean War. Gus served as borough manager of Emporium for several years. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Emporium Council #990

Gus is survived by five daughters, Catherine Harford, M. Theresa Seitz, Amelia "Mimi" Smith, Nancy Zito and Ann Lukasik. Ten Grandchildren: Brian Harford, Roxanne Zoschg, Michael & Joseph Patton, Jesse Seitz, Natalie, Rachel &, Summer Cooper, Michael Moreau and Anniela Lukasik. One Great Granddaughter Amelia Zoschg. One Sister, Jean Zito, Emporium; and Numerous, Nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Amelia Nicolo Zito, Wife, Anna Mae Scott, Granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Harford, five sisters, Nancy Connors, Stella Zito, Margaret Anderson, Susan Zito & Theresa Dixon and by five brothers, Frank, Dominick, Joe & Tony Zito and Joe in infancy.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (August 13, 2016) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

 Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA where a Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second St., Emporium, PA 15834 or to Blue Ridge Hospice
