A couple from Maine, with family living in Emporium issuing a challenge to businesses and individuals that love the July fireworks. Erik and Mary Jo van der Kaay live in Kennebunk Maine, but travel for the Zito family reunion each July, which coincides with the fireworks. The family is willing to match up to $1000.00 in donations received between now and July 2.
“I am at a loss for words,” says Tina Johns Solak, a member of the Cameron County Fireworks Committee. “The generosity is overwhelming.” If more than the $5500.00 is raised before July 2, the show can be expanded.
Donations can be accepted at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office or by mail at Cameron County Fireworks, 34 East Fourth Street, Emporium PA 15834.
