Cameron County Conservation District Project Tour 2015

Cameron County Conservation District Project Tour 2015

The Cameron County Conservation District is proud to announce their 2015 Project Tour. Join District Board Directors and staff on October 23rd at 12:30 for a wonderful afternoon, highlighting the District’s ongoing conservation efforts in Cameron County.

The tour will make four stops, visiting acid mine reclamation, streambank stabilization and environmental education sites showcasing the District’s hard work in environmental conservation. The tour will kick off with a visit to an acid mine reclamation project that is currently under construction in the headwaters of Sterling Run. This will be followed by a roadside stop at the Moateville Streambank Stabilization project. Participants will then visit the multi-phase Portage Creek Pool Habitat Initiative. The tour will conclude at the newly completed Outdoor Classroom, along the Gary Dubler Memorial Nature Trail. All stops will include a brief project history, and information on how the project was funded.

The Project Tour is free and participants will carpool to each of the sites. The tour will be held rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. The tour will start at 12:30pm at the Cameron County Conservation District Office, located at the Courthouse, 20 East Fifth Street, Emporium PA 15834. Pre-registration is not required, but encouraged. If you have any questions please contact Kate Morgan at 814-486-9302 or cameron.crt@hotmail.com.

The Cameron County Conservation District was formed in 1967 and has been striving to conserve the county's natural resources since. The District works to educate the public on environmental conservation programs including watershed restoration and enhancement, erosion and sediment control, agricultural conservation and environmental sensitive road maintenance, just to name a few.
