Mary M. Oswald Smith

 
 
Mary M. Oswald Smith, 95, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys formerly of Sycamore St., Emporium and Oveido, FL died at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys on Sunday (November 24, 2013) morning.

 She was born January 21, 1918 in St. Marys a daughter of the late William and Adeline Cannon Minnick.
Mary lived a full and active life. She was one of the original St. Marys girls that came by bus to Emporium to work at Sylvania during WW II. It was there that she met and married her first husband, Joe Oswald, moved to Emporium, raised two daughters Carole and Bernadette "Bernie". She was involved in all their school activities as well as making the dance costumes for the Hal Garvin Dance Studio, where her daughters took lessons. Being talented in many aspects, she was selected to represent Cameron County in a Homemakers of America contest. As a member of St. Mark Catholic Church she also donated a lot of her time doing work for the church such as sewing, counting money, decorating and organizing dinners for priests and church functions. She was a member of the CD of A. She also loved bowling and bowled on ladies and mixed couple teams. Mary was well known as a beautician in Emporium, where she owned and operated a beauty shop for many years. She took many advanced courses and had a thriving business, where she made many  friends.  After retiring, she married Cecil "Bo" Smith and they resided in Oveido, Florida for 18 yrs.

Step-son: Andy Smith

 There will be No Visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
