Russell J "Butch" Andrews



Russell J. "Butch" Andrews, 73, of 174 Valley View Rd, Emporium died at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie on Wednesday (August 1, 2012) morning.
He was born April 20, 1939 in Hughesville, PA a son of the late Russell and Ruby Brown Andrews.
On September 22, 1960 he married S. Jane Fackender Andrews, who Survives.

Mr. Andrews graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1957 and then  served with the US Navy from 1957 to 1963. He retired from Norfolk Southern railroad, in 2004, where he was a foreman for many years. He was president of the Russell Hollow Hunting Club. He was the cook for many years at the Drum and Henry Fishing Derby, and helped extensively with many of the programs put on by Cameron County Outdoor Youth Activities, especially the programs held at Andrews farm. He was a member of the Bucktail Rod and Gun Club, National Rifle Association and Quality Deer Management. He was also a member of the VFW in Emporium. Butch was a avid hunter and enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors. He mostly enjoyed spending his time outdoors in the Salt Run area where he grew up on the family farm and learned to hunt and fish.

5 Grandchildren Amandy Dempsey, Daniel Slottje, Nicholas & Amber Thwing & Blake Andrews
1 Great Grandson: Hunter Dempsey
Sister: Donna Loncosky and her husband Ardell, Seneca Falls, NY
Brother: Ronald Andrews and his wife Kay Ann, Emporium
Preceded in Death By
Parents: Russell and Ruby Brown Andrews

There will be No Visitation.
Memorial Service will be announced at a later date

Burial will be in the Portage Township Cemetery, Emporium, PA
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second St., Emporium, PA 15834
