Duane A. Buerk



Duane A. Buerk, 50, of 905 Edgerly Lane, Pflugerville, Texas formerly of Emporium died unexpectedly at his residence in Pflugerville Wednesday (December 14, 2011) afternoon.
He was born September 26, 1961 in St. Marys a son of the late Roman "Romie" and Ruth Luchs Buerk.
Duane graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1979 and then attended the University of Texas majoring in electronics. He resided in Texas for the past 25 years. He worked at Abbott Laboratory/Hospira for 16 years as a warehouse Technician and specialist where he maintained a 99% inventory accuracy throughout the warehouse. He served on the Emergency Response Team for 16 years and completed the ECA Certification and was also an EMT. Duane was very knowledgeable in the stock market. He loved his family and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing.

Sister: Janet Gore and her husband Jerry, Emporium
Sister: Jeanne Buerk, Emporium
Sister: June Galluzzi and her husband Mike, Emporium
Sister: Donna Pearson, Emporium
Three nieces and six nephews and three great nieces & one great nephew,
He was preceded in death by his parents: Roman "Romie" and Ruth Luchs Buerk
The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30 AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium on Thursday, (December 22, 2011) at 12:00 PM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.

  1. I worked with Duane at Abbott Labs, respected him as a co-worker, and admired him as an individual. I am shocked and saddened to hear of his death. He will be remembered.
