Police Notes

Emporium PSP is investigating an incident of Loitering and Prowling At Night that occurred on Saturday at 12:38 am at 922 Sizerville Road in Shippen Township, Cameron County.

A St. Marys couple was injured last Friday at 8:50 pm on Route 120, a mile east of Driftwood in Gibson Township, when their motorcycle hit a deer in the roadway.


Stephen D. Brunner, 52, and his passenger, Deborah L. Bruner, 50, of Saint Marys, PA, were transported to Elk Regional Medical Center by Emporium and Sinnemahoning ambulances for treatment of moderate injuries.

They were traveling west on Route 120 when a deer ran onto the roadway in front of their 2009 Harley-Davidson Soft Tail Deuce. Brunner was unable to avoid the deer and struck it with the front of his bike. The bike fell onto it's left side and came to rest.

No charges were filed.

A passenger sustained a minor injury in a crash Monday at 1:10 am on Route 120, south of Pine Tree Road in Shippen Township, Cameron County.


James B. Cooney, 25, of Emporium, PA, was a passenger in a 2005 Nissan 350Z, driven by Dale T. Hammersley, 28, of Greensburg, PA, who was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.

The crash occurred as Hammersley accelerated at a speed too great for his ability to maintain control. The Nissan spun approximately 45 degrees counterclockwise prior to striking an embankment off the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven a short distance from the scene. Hammeersley was cited by State Police for Roadways Laned For Traffic.

No injuries were reported in a 3 vehicle crash at 4:15 pm last Friday in Emporium Borough.

Donald P. Kudrick Jr., 47, of Coudersport, driving a 2005 GMC Sierra, was stopped on Allegheny Avenue waiting to pull into a business.

Amanda M. Kraft, 23, of Emporium, PA, driving a 2008 Kia Sportage, was stopped behind Kudrick's Sierra, waiting for him to proceed.

Robert M. Hauber, 34, of Austin, PA, was westbound and failed to stop, striking the Kia Sportage which was pushed into Kudrick's Sierra.

None of the drivers was injured. All were wearing seat belts.
Hauber will be cited for (not) Driving Vehicle At Safe Speed.

A Pittsburgh man was moderately injured when his 2007 Toyota Tacoma rolled over on Route 120 in Shippen Township, Cameron County on July 1 at 7:15 pm.


Robert J. Michalek, 74, of Pittsburgh, PA, was transported to Elk Regional Medical Center by Emporium ambulance. State Police described his injuries as moderate.

Michalek was traveling east in the eastbound lane of Route 120, traveled across the westbound lane and struck the north embankment, then rolled three times, coming to rest on it's wheels about 10 feet off the roadway. He was wearing his seatbelt.

He was cited for Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic.
