Mary Lee Urmann

Mary Lee Urmann, 77, of 551 Charles St., St. Marys, and formerly of 344 South St., Ridgway, died Thursday evening, Jan. 6, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.

She was born in St. Marys on Oct. 5, 1933, the daughter of Leander B. and Marian Ryan Weis.
On April 7, 1956 in Sacred Heart Church, she married John M. Urmann Sr., who survives.

She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She had been employed by Stackpole Carbon Company and in 1952 was elected St. Marys Carbon Queen. She was later involved in family ownerships of Valley Coal & Supply, Inc. and Alpine Pressed Metals.

Along with her husband of nearly 55 years, she is survived by three daughters, Christine (Michael) Aiello of St. Marys, with whom she made her home, LuAnn (David) Stanley of Cranberry Township, and Stacey (Frank) Rubino of Porte Vedra Beach, Fla.; two sons, John Jr. (Maribeth) of Ridgway, and Greg (Christine) of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and JoAnne Aiello, Matthew, Daniel, Eric and Alexandra Stanley, John (Jack) III and Douglas Urmann, Mitchell Urmann, and Victoria and Nicholas Rubino; a sister, Joanne (Ken) Gerg of Emporium; two brothers, William (Ann) Weis of St. Marys and James (Helene) Weis of Rockford, Ill; many special nieces and nephews; and a very special family friend, Bernadine Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leo B. "Bunk" Weis, in 2003.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lee Urmann will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant.

Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home in Ridgway on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
