Weekend in the Wilds Results

Weekend in the Wilds brought street filled crowds to Emporium on Saturday. The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce estimates more than $10,000 was spent during the weekend. Non-profit organizations, restaurants and artists reported brisk sales during Saturday which drew at least one thousand people to the event. Live music was provided by The Grey Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, The Community Band and country band, Full Moon.

One of the biggest events was the Big Foot Hunt sponsored by Mountaineer Search and Rescue. Nearly 30 hunters took to the county trails and roads looking for the twelve big foots which were hid throughout the county and nine were found. The winning hunters included Wendy Davis, Jonathan Good, Justin Zimmer, McKenzie Maggaro, Deb George, Josh Dixon, Shey Chmelar, Christie Slottje, and Eric Shupe.

The car/truck/bike show drew nearly 70 vehicles. Vehicle owners from Emporium joined owners from as far away as New York. The winners included Anne Johnson, Bike Belsole, Den Anderson, Norm and Jane Smith, Joan Freer, John Bisker, Jim Ewing, Ernie Oldani, Ken Schaeffer, Chuck Kepler, Harlan Smith, Paul carson, Donna Wilson, Ben and Beckie VanSickles, Bob Levia, Mark Hoffman, Phil Heasley, David and Dee Tanano, Ken Harman, Mike Baumgratz, Chuck Hutwagner, Pam Irwin, Chester and Marilyn Sheets, Tom Bell, Ivan Freer, Chris Stanko, Leroy Laird, Andy Hoy, Thomas Skiver, Betty Vogel, Kenny McKervey, Carl Hanes, Richard Spouse, Wayne Rigard and Bob Rodich. The Bikes Best of Show winner was Jeff Martin (1998 Harley Softail) from Roulette. Randy Clark from Bradford took home the Truck Best of Show with his 1957 Chevy 3100. Car Best of Show was awarded to Bill Pfaff (1932 Ford Coupe) from St Marys. This year children voted for their favorite. The winner was Ken Anderson from St Marys with a 2007 Mustang GT 500.

Nearly 300 people voted in the Cameron County Best Wings Contest. For the second year in a row, Weebulls in Driftwood was voted number 1.
